Sitting atop a picturesque hill overlooking Cedar Pond and the Big Prairie, the Education Center features an information desk, art gallery, education exhibits, and the Wildlife Viewing Room, where visitors can watch birds, small mammals, and an observation bee hive.
Built in 1957 as Bernheim’s Nature Center, the Education Center served as the Visitor Center for many years. In addition to exhibit space, the rustic building also houses administrative offices and is open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.
Other points of interest near the Education Center include Kingfisher Pool, a small pond brimming with aquatic life, and the I Spy Trail, an observation trail that encourages participants to find items that do not belong in the forest. Checklists for this activity are available at both the Education Center and Visitor Center.
