ECO Kids Discovery Day: Crypto Animal Safari

Crypto means “hidden”, which is a good way to describe many animals found in nature. Kids and their families will have fun hunting for crypto animals through the On Your Own Challenge, and then exploring hands-on Discovery Stations and the Hike of the Day during the afternoon. Pollywog Play Parties: Sun, Shade and Shadows

Bring your shadow to dance in the sun and hide in the shade! Early learners will experiment with light properties by playing shadow tag, making sun catchers, bringing shadow puppets to life, and much more. Journey through Bernheim with a trained naturalist and hopefully encounter creatures adapted to the dark side of day. Bring a flashlight, camera, binoculars and an adventurous spirit…nature will provide the wonders. Twilight tours start around sunset. Expect a small amount of hiking through easy terrain. CONNECT at Bernheim

Now in its sixth year, CONNECT at Bernheim again will challenge minds and delight the senses. Artists will set up around Lake Nevin with funky, fun and spontaneous art displays and demonstrations for the second year. This year’s art demonstrations include participants in CONNECTglow, a sculpture challenge in which participants create light sculptures without the use of a generator or AC power. This  juried process will award the the top entrant  $1,000 and $500 for the second prize.
