ECO Kids Discovery Day: Survival Strategies

Today’s Discovery Day includes: On Your Own Challenge, available in the Visitor Center from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Discovery Stations are at the Visitor Center from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Hike of the Day led by a Bernheim guide, starts at the Visitor Center at 2:00 p.m. and runs 45 – 60 minutes.

Fall Star Stories and Sky Watch Night

Observe the evening sights and sounds of summer with Bernheim’s knowledgeable and engaging Volunteer Naturalists. Star Stories happen rain or shine. In cooperation with the Louisville Astronomical Society. No pets please. Registration and payment due by 4 p.m. day prior to the start of program. Call (502) 955-8512 before 5 p.m. on day of program for last minute updates and changes due to weather. Rain will move Star Stories programs indoors for a fun and informative evening.

O.W.L.S.: Hidden in the Hollies, Legend, Lore and More

Bernheim’s Hubbuch Holly Collection is one of the world’s largest American holly collections. Explore this regional gem with Volunteer Naturalist Corinne Mastey. Amidst the beauty, Corinne will reveal some of the delightful legends, lore and a whole lot more, hidden among the Bernheim hollies. Dress for the weather and be prepared for off-trail walking. Pollywog Play Parties: Pollywogs Keeping Cozy

Brrr! How do people and animals keep warm during the cold months of winter? Pollywogs explore concepts of hibernation and staying active by feeding birds, curling up in the play cave, building nests and burrows, and more.
