Honeybee Installation

Join us Saturday, April 12 at 1:00 p.m. at our Education Center for a honeybee installation! From the safety of our Wildlife Viewing Room, watch as the Bernheim Beekeepers welcome a package of 10,000 buzzing pollinators to their new home. Volunteer beekeepers Bernie Roach, Mac Howard, and Helen Fenske will demonstrate the installation process, explain steps and beekeeping tools along the way, and answer questions during and following the presentation. Don’t miss this buzz-worthy event!

Early Wildflower Hike

The warm days of spring herald the emergence of our earliest wildflowers. Watch the forest floor come alive with color as this age old renewal signals the arrival of spring weather. Learn about the life histories and folklore of wildflowers and how we manage for their continuance at Bernheim. Natural Beekeeping with John Seaborne

Beginner and advanced beekeepers are invited to join John Seaborn, of Wolf Creek Apiaries, to explore the advantages of natural beekeeping. During this three hour workshop, participants will learn of Seaborn’s hands-on experience in successfully managing hives without chemicals, therefore working with nature and not against it in the keeping of honey bees. Space is limited.
