Cedar Glades are small, natural forest openings. These areas are characterized by a cover of dry prairie and dry woodland grasses and herbs, along with scattered shrubs and trees. Although these communities are very small, they harbor a unique group of plant species, fungi, insects and other organisms.
Forest Forays are an expedition to some of Bernheim’s seldom seen natural areas. Scientists, botanists, geologists and budding nature enthusiasts gather to generate new dialogues and innovative ideas regarding our natural world. Directions and other pertinent information will be available upon registration. Bring good hiking boots.
