Bernheim Backroads programs provide the perfect way to enjoy a guided tour of Bernheim’s best hidden spots, such as the Wilson Creek stream restoration site, beaver ponds, and Bernheim’s historic fire tower. In early spring Bernheim’s wetlands will be enlivened by the activities of breeding amphibians.
These tours are led by a team of trained and engaging naturalists, who will help make meaningful memories and connections as you experience these less visited natural and historic treasures. Although there will be some hiking (weather permitting) much of this 5 hour driving tour will take place from the warmth and comfort of a passenger van. Frequent stops are made for close up encounters with the natural world and unexpected delights. Bald and golden eagles are occasional winter visitors!
Bring your own sack lunch and a beverage for a noon time stop at the Bean House. Recommended for adults or children 12 years old and up. Space is limited, so make your reservations early.
