What could be a better holiday for Bernheim to celebrate than National Trails Day? Join us on Saturday, June 6 for a day full of outdoor adventure. Not only do we have 40+ miles of trails awaiting you (and your furry friends, if you wish – just be sure to keep them on a leash and clean up after them), we have additional activities that are sure to strike the fancy of all nature lovers.
Because it’s the first Saturday of the month, families are encouraged to join us for ECO Kids Discovery Days at the Visitor Center from 1-4 p.m., where Bernheim’s Volunteer Naturalists will be sharing their knowledge of all things nature through hands-on discovery stations. Throughout the day, families are encouraged to complete the day’s On Your Own Challenge, by completing a scavenger hunt while hiking on a Bernheim trail. Bernheim’s youngest adventurers are invited to jump in the pollywog pond for our monthly Pollywog Play Party, where kids age 5 and under can join in a story circle and get outside for a hike designed for their little feet.
Avid hikers are invited to join in a half-hike of the Millennium Trail, led by a Volunteer Naturalist. This rigorous journey covers half of the 13.75 mile trail, so bring your water, a snack, and your sturdy hiking shoes.
More of a fisher than a hiker? You’re in luck! This fantastic day coincides with our Family Fishing Days, so you can grab your pole and venture to three spots – Lake Nevin, Cedar Pond or Holly Pond to cast your line. Family Fishing Days will continue through Sunday, June 7.
See you on the trails!
